Over £10,000 raised by sister construction companies to grow local cancer care
Employees from Lowfield Timber Frames and SJ Roberts Construction have successfully completed the iconic National Three Peaks Challenge, conquering the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours while raising £10,706 for the region’s primary cancer charity.
On 11th July, a determined team of 18 walkers, supported by four dedicated drivers and Bernie the bear, completed the demanding challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in less than 24 hours to raise vital funds for Lingen Davies Cancer Support. The achievement was made even more remarkable by the heatwave conditions, which tested the team’s resilience, determination and teamwork every step of the way.
Every member of the team played their part, not only on the mountains but in the months leading up to the event. Through personal fundraising initiatives, sponsorship and community support, everyone made an outstanding contribution to the overall total, demonstrating an incredible commitment to supporting local cancer services.
The National Three Peaks Challenge pushed participants both physically and mentally, but it also brought colleagues together with a shared purpose: to give back to a charity that has supported so many people across the region. From months of training to the final summit, the experience was one of teamwork, perseverance and personal achievement.
Funds raised will support the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal, the charity’s ambitious £5 million campaign to grow cancer care across the region through the development of the new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Due to open by 2029, the new centre, alongside the existing chemotherapy services at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, will double chemotherapy capacity across the region, helping more patients access the care they need, closer to home.
Emma Vaughan, Marketing Executive at Lowfield Timber Frames, who organised the challenge, said:
“It has been amazing to raise so much money for Lingen Davies over the years, but it was a real honour to organise and deliver such a great event. Seeing so many colleagues commit themselves to months of training, fundraising and then pushing through one of the toughest challenges we’ve ever taken on was incredibly rewarding. Completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours was no easy feat, but every blister, sore muscle and early start was worth it knowing the difference these funds will make. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.”
Lowfield Timber Frames and SJ Roberts Construction would like to thank everyone who donated, sponsored and supported the team throughout the challenge. Every contribution has helped make a real difference, ensuring Lingen Davies Cancer Support can continue providing life-changing cancer services for people and families across the local community. This takes the companies’ fundraising total for the year to more than £14,000 with a few more events planned for the rest of the year.
