The project.
Lowfield Timber Frames were approached by local residents Kim and Nick to build the timber structure of their new farmhouse after their initial plans took a turn for the worst.
Whilst doing everything in their power to try and renovate their old existing farmhouse, they opted for Timber Frame to turn the scheme around. The key drives were the speed of erection and cost certainty which the system offered with the kit being completed on site in just two weeks.
Whilst the speed and cost were obviously at the forefront of the decision, the environmental impact of the build with its improved thermal performance and airtightness over traditional build methods will so be realised as the property really starts to take shape. Timber is a carbon neutral material, a renewable source and the off-site manufacturing produces minimum waste. Kim and Nick finally had a weather tight building to start working on inside and out

“When we first approached Lowfield Timber Frames we were in what we can only describe as a renovation nightmare! During renovations our farmhouse had collapsed – literally!!
After lengthy investigations it was confirmed the remaining house was unstable and would need to be demolished, after 9 Months of renovations this was just devastating for us. We were living (well still are!) in static caravans and it meant we’d be in them even longer than first anticipated. We made the decision to rebuild the house with a timber frame.
From the first call to Lowfield timber frames things began to look up. Suddenly things were happening. Darren came out to site the day after we made contact and from that very first meeting we felt confident they were the right ones for the job. They understood the urgency on our behalf after all the issues we had previously encountered and worked along side our architect and site builder to create a timber framed replica of the original farmhouse.
When it came to erecting the frame – Wowzers! We’ve never seen something be assembled so quickly!! The work teams were incredible. They worked with our site builder who would be continuing the job once the frame work was complete ensuring nothing was left undone before finishing.
