Radbrook, Shrewsbury

Residential Timber Frame

Radbrook Village is a new residential community in Shrewsbury featuring 126 homes. Along with 84 new build properties, 20 Victorian buildings have been remodelled into a range of apartments and houses. There are also 22 independent living units, designed to create a close-knit community.

While the 16-acre site is divided into a series of different character zones, the development’s core aesthetic takes inspiration from the impressive Apartments/Houses In Remodelled Victorian Buildings Dwellings Independent Living Units New Build Houses Radbrook Hall. Sympathetically designed with red brick cladding, traditional forms and ridge roofs, each property blends seamlessly into the surroundings.

In front of Radbrook Hall is a large square featuring 3-storey town houses. These properties give the height needed to frame this impressive hall, while also enclosing the square. Meanwhile, the properties behind the hall create private courtyards, taking a contemporary approach to coach house properties and stable dwellings.

Timber frame construction offers a range of benefits, improving the overall efficiency and speed of construction while increasing the sustainability of the build. Our client wanted to take advantage of these benefits, which is why they tasked us with this exciting project.

Timber frame also offers more flexibility in regards to design requirements, making this an excellent choice in style of construction for this project. Many of the builds within Rad brook Village involved a number of complex house designs, such as terraces on upper floors, and these were successfully achieved by using timber.
