Magic Gardens

Once a popular community recreation area, Magic Gardens had remained unused since 2011. Wolverhampton Council redeveloped the site using £600,000 of Homes England funding.

The project was contracted to Morro Partnerships, who led the build. Lowfield Timber Frames supplied the timber frames for eight new affordable bungalows in Bushbury.

Our Role

As the timber frame supplier, Lowfield Timber Frames managed the design, manufacture, and installation of a complete offsite timber frame solution.

Each bungalow used precision-engineered timber panels from our Shropshire facility, ensuring faster, efficient, and environmentally responsible construction.

We worked with the main contractor, Morro Partnerships to deliver a high-quality, sustainable, and affordable product.

Community Impact

The new bungalows enable older residents from Low Hill, many living alone in three-bedroom homes, to downsize into manageable two-bedroom properties.

This downsizing helps free up family homes for local households in need. This allows for strengthening community housing availability and supporting a well-connected neighbourhood.

Councillor Steve Evans, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Housing at Wolverhampton Council, said:

“One of our key priorities is to build new and better homes for local people in well-connected neighbourhoods across the city. It’s fantastic to see elderly residents from Low Hill, who predominantly live alone in a three-bedroom family house, now being able to downsize to a two-bedroom bungalow and free up a family home.”

Project Outcome

The Magic Gardens development stands as a successful example of how modern timber frame construction can transform disused brownfield land into sustainable, affordable housing.
