Timber Framed Building for the harbour at Rhyl
Lowfield supplied and erected the timber framed building kit for a new Harbourmasters Building in Rhyl. The build used 120mm pre-insulated external panels and a galvanised balcony.
The construction used 240mm deep engineered I joists for the first-floor cassettes and 300mm deep FJI rafters to create the roof cassettes.
Wynne Construction was appointed by Denbighshire County Council to build the new Harbourmasters Building at Foryd Harbour. The building was part of the overall regeneration works in the harbour which included the new Bridge along with the public cycle route and plaza.
The facility was constructed to BREEAM Excellent standards with sustainable features to included an air source heat pump and rainwater harvesting.
A BREEAM assessment uses recognised measures of performance, which are set against established benchmarks, to evaluate a building’s specification, design, construction and use. The measures used represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology. They include aspects related to energy and water use, the internal environment (health and well-being), pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management processes
