Purpose & Features
The project aimed to create a versatile, high-quality recreational building that could serve multiple functions while complementing its surrounding environment. Designed with both relaxation and activity in mind.
At its heart, the space functions as a private leisure retreat, incorporating a range of facilities for wellbeing and entertainment.
The design includes a welcoming bar and social area with a snooker table, perfect for hosting guests and gatherings; a fully equipped gym, offering space for personal fitness and exercise; and an indoor swimming pool, designed and powered for year-round use, providing luxury and practicality in equal measure.
The timber frame provides the structural backbone for the barn, providing large, open-plan spaces while enabling high ceilings and flexible layouts that can adapt to changing needs over time.

Lowfield Timber Frames played a central role in bringing Courtyard Barn to life, managing the design, manufacture, and supply of the engineered timber frame that forms the building’s structural backbone.
Working closely with the client from the early stages, we ensured that every aspect of the frame aligned with their vision for a high-quality, versatile, and sustainable leisure facility.
